Fred sets 3 carols in succession. He begins with a bouncy setting of Deck the Halls in G major, then moves to a quieter setting of Coventry Carol in G minor and finishes with O Little Town of Bethlehem in G major. It is a nice use of major – minor tonalities, and if you’re looking for a medley this one is nice because of its bright opening and quieter ending which has a quote from the Coventry Carol. It offers opportunity for some expressive ringing, particularly in the use of dynamics.
